Tenacious D Announce New Album

Tenacious D, ‘The Greatest Band In The World’, have confirmed they will release a new album and an animated series later this year.

Jack Black confirmed a few months ago that the comedy rock group, Tenacious D, staring himself and Kyle Gass were in the studio working on something new, a Rock Opera based on the Post Apocalypse. Last night, the Gods of Rock and Roll brought us the full information…

‘Post-Apocalypto’, which also features Dave Grohl on the drums, will be released on the 2nd November 2018. It will be available on CD, translucent green vinyl, full image vinyl or digitally.

It’s rather likely that given you can already find ‘POST-APOCALYPTO THEME’ (yes, in all caps) on Spotify, the album will also be available on the usual streaming platforms.

A six-part animated series, which will air on Tenacious D’s YouTube channel, will be accompanying the album’s release with a new episode coming out every Friday until the launch. It will premiere on the 28th September. Every episode of the series has been hand-drawn by Jack Black himself and the all the characters are voiced by him and Kyle Gass.

Post-Apocalypto finds Tenacious D thrust into a world of complete and utter destruction following the drop of an atomic bomb. Surviving the attack in classic cinematic fashion (a good old imperishable 1950’s refrigerator), the duo quickly learns that new forms of evil have spawned from the blast. One thing becomes apparent — for humanity to prevail, Tenacious D must save the world.

With unimaginable twists and turns, an insane visit to the White House, a time machine, a space adventure, and the help of some tried and true daddy issues, Post-Apocalypto is as hilarious as it is political, and as brilliant and multi-faceted as its incredible creators. The songs are damn good, too.”
